Tree service in Daphne, on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay

Daphne took 12 inches of rain from Sally and a Hurricane Warning from Isaias. The bluff oaks over the bay are survivors; the pines in the subdivisions off Highway 181 are not. We cover both sides of the city.

Daphne is the first Eastern Shore city across the Bayway from Mobile, with the old part of town on the bluff over the bay and the new part spreading east along Highway 181 and County Road 64 into what was pine woods and farmland a decade ago. Baldwin County has three of the four fastest-growing municipalities in Alabama, and Daphne has been in the state's top 20 for numeric growth. Sally put 12.58 inches of rain on Daphne in 2020; Isaias in October 2026 brought a Hurricane Warning with gusts to 65 mph and 3 to 6 inches of rain forecast for the central Eastern Shore.

On the bluff and the old streets, the live oaks and magnolias over the bay are the survivor species, and our work is pruning: deadwood, weight off the limbs over the roof, cables in the weak forks, and nothing topped. In the subdivisions off Highway 181, it's the Gulf Coast pattern: tall pines kept by the builders for shade, now standing alone over houses in saturated sand. Those come down before the season or after the storm. Daphne has its own tree rules and the city permits development; a residential lot generally needs no tree permit, but trees in the city right-of-way and trees on development sites do, and we check with the city before we start. Debris from the Eastern Shore goes to Baldwin County's facilities rather than back across the bay.

Questions from Daphne homeowners

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Daphne?

On a residential lot, generally not, but trees in the city right-of-way and trees on development sites need city approval, and Daphne enforces its own tree and landscape rules. We check with the city for your address before we start.

How fast can you get to Daphne after a hurricane?

As soon as the Bayway or the Causeway is open and the wind has dropped enough to work. After Sally the Eastern Shore took the worst of it and crews worked there for weeks; trees on structures come first.

My bluff oak has a limb over the roof. Does it need to come down?

Almost never the whole tree. A long limb over the roof gets reduction cuts to bring the weight back toward the trunk, or a cable if the fork is weak. Live oaks are the survivor species; keep it.

How much does tree work cost in Daphne?

The same as Mobile: a medium pine removal $800 to $2,000, a full live oak prune $1,200 to $3,500, hurricane prep on a typical lot $1,500 to $5,000. Written and itemized.
